Dallas Museum of Art

The Dallas Museum was established in 1903 and since then it has been among the 10 largest art museums all over the United States and is distinguished by its dire commitment to research, innovation, and public engagement. The core of the Museum and the programs are the global collections, which encompass more than 24,000 and span years of history. It represents a range full of world cultures. It is located in the nation’s largest arts district, DMA acts as the catalyst for the community’s creativity, literary events, from exhibitions and lectures to concerts and dramatic and dance presentations. Since the Museums have returned to free general admission in 2013, the DMA welcomed more than 3.2 million annual visits.

The Dallas Museum of Art in Dallas, Texas aims to give space for wonderful discovery to how art gives life to the world. They place art and the diverse communities in the center all around which activities radiate. They pursue excellent in collecting and programming, present to works of art across cultures and timeline to be a driving force in contemporary art; and lastly to strengthen the position as a prominent, innovative institution, create possibilities of learning and creativity, and expand the meaning.

History

The Dallas Art Association was organized in 1903 and has been directed to its outgrowth of the Art Committee of the Public Library. The suggestion of Frank Reaugh which is a well-known Texan artist, properly lighted and arranged, an art gallery, and was the one who provided for the building.

When the museum was completed, the room was the most attractive, and the late Mr. J. S Armstrong which was a member of the building committee, became very interested when it comes to procuring pictures for the gallery that he have to offer and give the half of any amount that he’d raise for the purpose.

The Dallas Museum of Art’s collection has over 24,000 of art from all cultures and periods of time that span over 5,000 years of human creativity. The collection is dynamic; new acquisitions are being added all the time and the galleries have changed endlessly.
